Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Egypt has banned gatherings in open places during the month of Ramadan, as part of measures to combat the Coronavirus outbreak.
In Egypt, the Ministry of Religious Affairs said it would not be allowed to hold events that bring together crowded groups such as mass iftar and Tarawih. Itikaf worship in mosques on the last 10 days of Ramadan will not be held this year, the ministry said in a statement.
In Muslim countries, especially for the poor, mass fasting organizations and visits to relatives and mass worship in mosques are traditionally performed more during Ramadan. However, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, these visits are expected to be unable to take place during this year's Ramadan.
