EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 6.3 STRIKES SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES AND PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Papua New Guinea immediately after a magnitude 6 earthquake hit Davao province in the southern Philippines.

The quake, whose epicenter was the city of Magsaysay, occurred at 12.22 p.m. local time at a depth of 15 kilometers, The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

Tremors were also felt in the province's cities of Bansalan, Kidapawan, and Digos following the quake.

After the earthquake, an aftershock warning was issued and there was no danger of a tsunami.

Following an earthquake in the Philippines, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit off the 193-kilometer-old coast of Lorengau, Papua New Guinea.
