Serhat TUNAR -TDO- In South Korea, the drone traffic management system performed unmanned flight for the first time. As part of the test conducted jointly by the South Korean Ministry of Transport and Seoul Municipality, 6 drone taxis flew in the Youido area without a person in it.
The two-seat drone, developed by the China-based company EHang, flew over the Han River with a payload simulating the weight of passengers. Six drones were flown for different uses such as package delivery, traffic analysis and survey.
The South Korean government aims to introduce a traffic management system to support drone taxis sometime in 2025.
South Korean engineers are working on a next-generation transport service that eliminates urban traffic congestion, using electrically powered aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing.
