The 660 doctors taking part in a general strike across France have announced they will collectively resign if the government does not choose the path of negotiation to soften the coercive practices imposed on public hospitals.

In their handout titled 'Public Hospital dying', doctors said harsh practices had turned to austerity policy, famine and absence.

After nine months of crisis in public hospitals, doctors and hospital workers joined protests across the country, along with strikers against pension reform.
