At the meeting, which included Libya and China-Italy relations as the main agenda items, the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean were also evaluated.
At a press conference after the meeting, Di Maio said: "Our position on the Eastern Mediterranean is clear. As a member of the European Union, we stand by Greece and Cyprus. At the same time, as I told Pompeo, Turkey is a necessary country for the stability of the region and an important NATO member. So it's important that we can work together."
