Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The European Commission recommended to its employees to message via the Signal application in order to increase cyber security.
The European Commission, which warned its employees at the beginning of February, made a statement that the Signal application was chosen as the recommended application for messaging. According to the Politico report, the commission wants to prevent the internal and external correspondence from being hacked and exposed.
Commission staff are currently sending encrypted mail on sensitive issues that are not classified. Stricter measures are being taken for information in the classified category.
While there are many encrypted messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram and iMessage, the European Commission's choice of Signal is due to the publicity of the application.
Experts show that Signal's code is open source, meaning that it can be accessed by anyone, even though it uses an encryption algorithm similar to others. Thus, by examining the coding and algorithm, the developers can see if an open door has been left on purpose to crack the password.
