COVID-19: MEDICAL MASKS STILL IN SHORTAGE IN FRANCE

Selin ATAY-TDO- Medical community faces unforeseen challenges as coronavirus takes hold, throughout the continent all-important medical masks remain in short supply in hospitals and medical facilities.

Bernard Huynh said that many hospitals had run out of medical masks, therefore, the promise of handing out one million masks was not a solution. “We give every doctor a daily mask. Normally the mask needs to change every 2 or 3 hours,” Huynh emphasized that there was a difference between the remarks made and those made in the field.

“We have been requesting masks for 2 months. We need masks, disinfectant gel and medical clothing, but we don't have them." Lamine Gharbi, the president of the Federation of Private Hospitals said and also it is stated that 15 million masks are needed daily for doctors and nurses.

Jean-Paul Hamon, the president of the Federation of Doctors of France, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19, the 73-year-old physician is presently in quarantine.  "I hope the government has understood the importance of a working health system," said Hamon.

The masks needed are known as FFP2, that provides the best protection against infection, much more than a simple surgical shield made of cotton.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner called those who violate the practice, which restricts free movement except when it is compulsory, "stupid" in his statement. Also, more than 4 thousand people ,who do not have the document stating their excuses when going out, were fined 135 euros each.
