Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The World Health Organization (WHO) announced last week that cases of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) have risen in Europe after a 10-week decline.
The WHO's European branch warned that the pandemic could increase across Europe.
"There will be a new wave if we do not show the necessary discipline in the European region," WHO Europe Director Hans Kluge told a virtual press conference.
Hans Kluge said the rise in cases in Europe was "alarming" given that there are millions of people who have not yet been vaccinated, despite significant efforts by member states at a time when the Delta variant of Covid-19 is increasing.
According to WHO data, there was a 10% increase in cases in the European region last week, with the lifting of restrictions against the pandemic.
