News Center -TDO - Events organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Turkey continue.

Istanbul Italian Cultural Center will promote its audiobook “From The Dark Forest to Heaven; a journey to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy in 33 languages” on June 24, and the Cultural Center has published a bilingual version of Dante's immortal poem in Italian and Turkish to make it more open to the Turkish public.

The event will be held as part of a programme to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death. Dante 700 on Earth " commemoration program covers more than 500 events, including exhibitions, concerts, live performances, podcasts and apps.

The audiobook From The Dark Forest to Heaven, curated by Prof Alberto Casadei (University of Pisa) and prepared in 33 languages, will be presented by Italian Ambassador to Turkey Massimo Gaiani and Salvatore Schirmo, director of the Italian Cultural Center in Istanbul. Cecilia Piccioni, director of the Centre for the promotion of Italian culture and language, Professor Alberto Casadei and lecturer Cristiano Bedin will also participate as speakers. The event will be accompanied by three videos in which famous players Özlem Zeynep Dini, Nuri Karadeniz and Cemil Büyükdöğerli will read some selected chapters from the audiobook with Turkish and Italian subtitles.

The event will be performed live on the Zoom platform with simultaneous translation into Italian and Turkish on June 24. Live from the Youtube and Facebook channels of the Istanbul Italian Cultural Center will also be broadcast simultaneously in Turkish, while the Italian recording will be broadcast on YouTube immediately after the end of the event.

Dante activities of the Istanbul Cultural Center include an eight-session reading series called the way of life with Dante, which will take place once a month, with the participation of teachers of the Italian language and Literature Department of Ankara University and Turkish artists, and will last until December 2021. On 22 October, a special event titled "Supreme wisdom and First Love" will take place, featuring Pamela Villoresi and the famous pianist Marco Scolastra, organized for World Italian Language Week.
