Serhat TUNAR -TDO- European Union Council President Charles Michel, European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the current president of the European Union, and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the European Union - China Leaders Summit, which was held via video conference.
The meeting climate change, Economy, Trade, International Relations, Human Rights, and Charles Michel, who took such titles as the Coronavirus outbreak, they want to continue relations with China in a balanced manner, and said he would continue to work to identify areas of cooperation.
Michel continued his speech: "Europe needs to be a player, not a playground. We want to have a mutual, responsible and fair relationship with China. Hong Kong's national security continues to worry the European Union and member states. Democratic voices in Hong Kong must be heard. We conveyed our concerns to minorities in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and Tibet about their behavior to human rights defenders and journalists."
Chinese President Xi Jinping, on the other hand, said after the meeting that the European Union should not interfere in China's internal affairs, addressing issues related to China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
