Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- After Bulgaria's parliamentary elections on April 4th failed, attempts to form a cabinet failed, raising the possibility of early elections.
The Socialists announced that they would reinstate the President as soon as he took up the task of forming a government.
If the government cannot be formed, the mandate is given to the second-largest party in parliament, the People's Party Such a People (ITN).
However, chess champion Antoaneta Stefanova, nominated by the ITN as its candidate for prime minister, immediately reinstated her mandate to form a government.
Under the country's laws, the Socialists, who have a chance to come to power, have also said they will not accept the mandate to form a government on May 5th on the grounds that a functioning coalition cannot be formed in a polarized parliament.
