Serhat TUNAR -TDO- A Buddhist temple in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, has begun offering matchmaking services to singles to increase the rate of marriage in the country.
Many single Japanese have already applied to the matchmaking service that Tsukiji Hongwanji temple, which has a 400-year history, started three months ago.
Temple supervisor Naoto Higashimori said that the service they gave was born out of the need of today's society and said: "we came up with this idea when we thought about the role of temples in society. In the past, temples could offer counseling to married couples. The matchmaking service we have started to provide is more appropriate to the current needs of society."
The temple charges approximately US $ 600 from those who apply for the matchmaking service. But those who find a husband or wife thanks to this service are also expected to pay an extra 2 thousand dollars.
