Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Bolivia wants 20 politicians who fled the government of interim president Jeanine Anez to take refuge in Mexico's Embassy in La Paz to be handed over to them.
The Bolivian Police Department has called on Mexican authorities to extradite these 20 politicians who served under former President Evo Morales, who resigned as a result of pressure. Bolivian law enforcement officials have demanded from Mexico that the aforementioned politicians be brought to justice, stating that the police have not harassed the embassy in any way.
Opposition politicians who have taken refuge in Mexico's Embassy in La Paz are blamed for the terror and violence that ensued.
However, a statement by the Bolivian foreign ministry said the dissidents would not be allowed to leave the country and exit the embassy safely.
A written statement from Mexico's Foreign Ministry said it was deeply concerned about the excessive presence of security forces around the embassy and official residence since November 11.
