Selin ATAY-TDO- Microsoft founder Bill Gates argued that a full return to normal life in the United States is impossible before 2022 due to the pandemic, and restaurants and bars should be closed for 4-6 months.
A vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech against the novel type of coronavirus (Covid-19) received approval in the United States last week. Gates said that despite this development, life in the country still has a long way to go before it returns to normal.
Bill Gates had donated millions of dollars to vaccine work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Although the donor businessman claimed that the US would be "much closer to normal than it is now" by the summer of 2021, he argued that life would not fully return to normal before 2022.
In an interview with American television, businessman Gates stressed that if "other countries are not helped to get rid of this disease and there is a high rate of vaccination within the United States, the risk of re-occurrence of the disease will be high.” Gates pointed to the importance of continuing the ban on gathering in large crowds to lower infection rates. He also argued that bars and restaurants across the country should remain closed.
On the other hand Gates, said that if the coronavirus fight process is well managed, it can literally return to normal in 12-18 months.
The billionaire businessman also said President Donald Trump's objections to his election defeat had made it harder to distribute the vaccine. Gates also said, " the transition process is complex. But the new administration is willing to rely on real experts and not attack them," he said.
However, conservative filmmaker Nick Searcy, who opposes Gates ' views, said in a shared tweet that "Bill Gates wants to destroy America." “His ideas are worthless unless Bill Gates is willing to distribute his entire fortune to people who work in the bar and restaurant industry,” Author Ryan James Girdusky, who shares close views with Searcy, said.
