News Center -TDO- In cooperation with the Embassy of Peru in Ankara and the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management of Bilkent University, the Peruvian Food Week was held on November 17-18 at Le Piment Rouge, the Department's practice restaurant, as part of the ‘International Cuisine’ course.
During the event, which was held with the support of the Ambassador of Peru to Ankara, Campana Boluarte, students of the department took lessons on Peruvian cuisine from the chef of the cuisine of the embassy, Jean Carlo Milla, for two days and presented tastes such as "Tiradito Nikkei”, "Chi Jau Kay” and "Quinoa Pudding” from Peruvian cuisine to the guests.
Among the guests hosted by the department were Sebastien de Courtois, director of the French Cultural Center in Ankara, Hülya Öz, director of courses, Sultan Alparslan, director of the library, Özlem Gül, director of Culture and Ahmet Mert Aydoğdu, financial attaché from the French Embassy in Ankara.
The director of the French Cultural Centre, Sebastien de Courtois, expressed appreciation for the agreement between the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management and the famous French School of culinary arts, Institut Paul Bocuse. De Courtois stressed that after the department became a member of the Institut Paul Bocuse World Union, they were confident that the agreement with the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, a member of the same union in Peru, would bring great gains to the students. De Courtois expressed their full support for the agreements as a French Cultural Center, and expressed their appreciation of the importance that Bilkent University attaches to a second foreign language education in the field of Tourism and Hotel Management.
Eda Gurel, head of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Güneş Karamullaoglu, Deputy Head of the department, Oguz Benice, lecturer, and Guliz Esen, head of the Department of Business Information Management also attended to the event.
Bilkent University International Cuisine course Chef Instructor Elif Denizci and restaurant service course instructor Ali Unal, within the scope of the course, described Peruvian Cuisine as the world's new gourmet center and said that they will include this cuisine to the course in each semester.
