Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- United States President Joe Biden held telephone diplomacy with the leaders of Israel and Palestine on May 15.
During his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Biden said he "supports the right to defend themselves against terrorist groups," while telling Palestinian President Abbas that "Hamas must end the rocket fire."
Written statements by the White House shared information about the talks with both leaders.
Biden said he would continue to work for "the dignity, security, freedom and economic opportunity that the Palestinian people deserve," the statements said.
Biden supports a two-state solution, which is the best way to achieve a lasting solution, the statement said.
"President Biden once again expressed his strong support for Israel's right to self-protection against rocket attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza. Biden condemned these random attacks on cities and regions in Israel," the statement said.
Biden expressed concern to both state leaders over the deaths of Israeli and Palestinian civilians, including children, in the clashes.
