News Center -TDO- The 'Day of Remembrance of the Martyrs of the Patriotic War' event was organized by the Turkey Azerbaijan Friendship Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation (TADİV) and the Embassy of Azerbaijan.
The event, which was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan, was attended by Azerbaijan's new Ambassador to Turkey, Reşat Mammadov, Member of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council and President of TADİV Prof. Dr. Aygün Attar, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Turkey Shamil Ayrim, Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünvar and many guests.
Azerbaijan ambassador to Ankara, Mammadov, stated that there is a centuries-old friendship between Turkey and Azerbaijan, "In the last century, as the great Ataturk said, Azerbaijan's troubles, sorrows, are Turkey's. As the great leader Heydar Aliyev said, one nation is two states. We're going to hug each other, we're going to be there for each other on a bad day, a hard day, and we're going to strengthen our economy, our military, our politics, and we're going to go even further. May God bless our martyrs. It is our obligation to remember Turkish martyrs, Azerbaijani martyrs, all the sons who died for the sake of the land." he said.
TADİV President Attar said in his speech that although they commemorate the martyrs today, they are not grieving, "Because we remember the heroic Azerbaijani army, which triumphed in a tremendous, unprecedented 44-day war, and the beautiful people who carried out immortality by marching to martyrdom, the light-faced youths, the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country and left generations behind." he said.
The commemoration event ended with a screening of images and videos of the war in Karabakh and a music performance.
