Serhat TUNAR -TDO- While the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has long been negotiating to postpone the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, scheduled for next July, 70 percent of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Olympic Committee (USOPC) member athletes have demanded that the organization be postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Of the 300 athletes who attended the usopc's meeting on Sunday (yesterday) via videoconferencing, 70 per cent voted to postpone the Olympics, while 23 per cent said they could vote to postpone it, depending on the way the situation is going. The remaining 7 per cent of athletes wanted the Olympics to be held at a predetermined time.

The meeting lasted about 2 hours, with 41 per cent of athletes saying they did not want to go to Japan if the Olympics were held, while 34 per cent were reluctant to give their opinion by requesting more information.
