Strategically located at the north of Mediterranean sea, Algeria is a beautiful country with several thousand splendid suns of history and culture that made the country to stand out amongst the comity of African countries. People of Algeria are hospitable, cordial, hardworking and diligent in their day to day affairs. Known as African land of contrast, Algeria is the country having diverse history, culture, cuisine, music and economy that is beaming with presence of extensive rich natural resources across the country especially gas and oil. The name Algeria is derived from the name of the country’s oldest continuous settlement and modern capital, Algiers, a city that is located on significant junction between Europe and Middle East. Algeria became the largest country in Africa country on the continent after the division of Sudan into two halves. The country borders on the west by Morocco and Western Sahara, to the east Tunisia and Libya; to the south Niger, Mali and Mauritania and beautiful Mediterranean Sea to the north. Most of the country’s population lives towards the north. The Sahara covers more than four-fifths of its territory, where the inhabitants are concentrated in oases surrounded by desert. Official language of the country is Arabic while Berber and French is being spoken and used in a day-to-day life. Red Star and Crescent together with the colors of flag white and green are actually symbolic for official religion Islam.
