Selin ATAY-TDO- Exiled Afghan President Ashraf Ghani defended his decision to leave Afghanistan when the Taliban advanced and eventually captured his government.
Exiled President Ashraf Ghani argued that he was "forced to leave Afghanistan with one set of traditional clothes, a vest and the sandals I was wearing." Ghani left Kabul on Sunday immediately when the Taliban approached Kabul.
In a video posted on exiled President’s Facebok page, Ghani also affirmed that he was in the United Arab Emirates, which UAE welcomed him on "humanitarian grounds".
Exiled Afghan President Ashraf Ghani stated that he was "in discussions" over a return to the Afghanistan. Also Ghani said that he is in favor of the new dialogue between the Taliban and officials from the last government.
Meanwhile the European Commission has announced that all European Union member states must accept people from Afghanistan who are "in immediate danger".
