Serhat TUNAR -TDO- According to worldwide clinical testing in the fight against coronavirus, 68 percent of heavily Covid-19 patients given the antiviral drug Remdesivir responded positively to the treatment.
According to the results of the study, published in the new English Medical Journal, 36 out of 53 severely ill patients in the United States, Italy, France, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan and Canada had their health improved thanks to this treatment.
In Tests, 17 out of 30 patients who were on artificial respiration improved their condition. In this process, 7 patients who did not respond to treatment died.
The scientists pointed out that, as with the chloroquine test in France, there was no control group in this clinical trial. So randomized and placebo-controlled tests are needed to better determine whether Remdesivir can help Covid-19 patients.
Laboratory results of the drug, considered by many experts to be the most promising antiviral for Covid-19, had revealed it to be effective against coronavirus. It was also used in hospitals in northern Italy and China.
New tests with Remdesivir in the coming weeks aim to reach more comprehensive results.
