Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- In the United Kingdom, 5 million citizens who have been vaccinated against a new type of coronavirus called Covishield (Covid-19) may be deprived of their European holidays this summer due to a bureaucratic problem.
Those who receive at least one dose of vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are allowed to use the European Union (EU) Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC).
More than 70 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the UK.
However, 5 million of these vaccines are produced by the Serum Institute of India and are also known as the Covishield version of AstraZeneca.
The only difference is that the vaccine, the same as the AstraZeneca vaccine and stated to provide equal protection, is that it is manufactured in India.
The fact that the EMA has still not approved Covishield means that at European airports the vaccine will not be recognized by the EUDCC gateway.
