Serhat TUNAR -TDO- An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude occurred 30 kilometers west of the Albanian capital, Tirana. The Albanian Defense Ministry said the earthquake was the most severe in the last 30 years.
The earthquake, measured in magnitude 5.6, followed by lighter aftershocks frightened the public in Albania's port city of Durrës. Due to the earthquake felt in the capital, Tirana, people came out of their houses and waited on the streets.
According to local media reports, at least 49 people were injured and transferred to hospitals in Tirana for treatment. A person in the epicenter of the earthquake in Durrës broke his leg trying to get out of the building in a hurry. Many people living in rural areas were injured due to falling bricks.
