In his message, Özersay said that their struggle to live in dignity as a people and to maintain their identity in this geography went further past than the founding of the state.
Noting that the TRNC is prepared to cooperate with various actors of the international community through all of its institutions, Özersay said “Although the Turkish Cypriot people are being isolated through the unjust approach of the international community, they will advance step by step and with determination to become a part of the world."
Özersay said that the Turkish Cypriots should manage their own institutions well and own up to their state and that the island of Cyprus is key to security, stability and peace in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Expressing gratitude to the martyrs for Cyprus, Özersay said “Our main mission is to take the TRNC further as a democratic and secular state of law.”
The TRNC’s Ambassador to Turkey Köprülü said that they were proud to be celebrating the 35th anniversary of the founding of the TRNC and said that the Turkish Cypriot people were a symbol of independence and freedom.

Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez said that Turkey will always stand by the Turkish Cypriot people of the TRNC.
Adding that the Turkish Cypriot people had given life to the TRNC by resisting all injustice and attacks, Minister Dönmez said:
"I would like to express my respects and gratitude to martyrs who gave their lives for the independence of the Turkish Cypriot people, veterans, Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş to whom we owe the founding and presence of the TRNC. We will continue with our efforts for the development of the TRNC, and a competitive, sustainable and self-sufficient economy for the country. As always, Turkey will continue to support the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people on every platform. For us, this is a national cause. We do not approve of any approach that does not aim at a just and fair solution. Those who have attached the presence , security, justified rights and demands of the Turkish Cypriot people have had to contend with Turkey until now. Turkey will continue to react with the same determination to any threats directed at Turkish Cypriots. There should be no doubt about that.”
Following the cutting of the cake and Cypriot local dances, guests were offered refreshments.
