İlknur Şebnem Öztemel-TDO-20.07.2017- According to Sputnik News, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi argued that the real treat to security and stability in the Middle East comes from the US interference in domestic affairs of the countries in the region.
Qassemi stated "The Islamic Republic of Iran is convinced that the serious and real threat to security, stability and development of the Middle East is the US' interference in the internal affairs of the countries in the region, carried out with specific objectives of destabilizing the situation and undermining security".
He added that any Iran only tries to ensure its national security while it has no intention to use its military capabilities as a way to threaten any other country.
USA imposed new sanctions targeting Iran’s military and Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) over Tehran’s ballistic missile program, added 18 more entities and individuals on the sanctions list regarding their duty as being intermediaries. Flowingly, State Department re-certified Tehran’s compliance to the 2015 nuclear agreement. Nevertheless, Iran, EU and the so-called P5+1 group of nations, including USA, Russia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and China, signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which foresee to lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for assurances that Tehran’s nuclear program would remain peaceful.
Undoubtedly, there are some contradictory moves made by the two sides but if we look at the history of the Middle East, we would see that foreigners always made the situation worse.
