News Centre – TDO- The international conference organised in cooperation by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey and the Centre for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) has been held at the Ankara Hilton Hotel.
The conference was attended by the Azerbaijani Ambassador Hazar İbrahim, AVİM President Ambassador Alev Kılıç, Georgian Ambassador George Janjgava, Ambassador of the TRNC Kemal Köprülü, the ambassadors of New Zealand and Sri Lanka, as well as academics and other invitees.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, AVİM President Ambassador Alev Kılıç said that the Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia were the three independent states to emerge in the Caucasus following WWI and that they were celebrating 100 years of Azerbaijan’s independence.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Hazar İbrahim underlined the importance of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in the region and added that these three states act as a bridge from Asia to Europe and that energy resources pass over this bridge.
Following three panel discussions, the conference ended with a speech by Ambassador Yiğit Alpogan and a cocktail.
