The reception was attended by Köksal Toptan, Chairman of the Ethics Committee of Public Officials, Akio Miyajima, Ambassador of Japan, Hamza Yerlikaya, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, members of the Turkish - Japanese women friendship and Culture Association, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Ankara and invited guests.

Ambassador Miyajima, in his speech here, said that within the scope of a month-long Japan Festival activities, Ankara, Giresun and Kayseri, various cultural events are organized, about 7 thousand people are watching these activities.

Recalling that the cities of Istanbul and Madrid also competed for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Ambassador Miyajima said he was impressed by the Turkish public's support for Tokyo after the qualifiers.

Ambassador Miyajima recalled that there are 8 months until the start of the Olympics and said, "I heard that many athletes from Turkey will participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As Japan's Ambassador to Ankara, I wish not only Japanese athletes but Turkish athletes to succeed.”

In his speech at the invitation, Hamza Yerlikaya, the deputy minister of youth and Sports, stated that the friendship and brotherhood of Turkey and Japan will always continue, and that the political stance of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey is in favor of this brotherhood.

Deputy Minister Yerlikaya pointed out that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games are approaching and said, "as an athlete who has competed in the Olympics, I have full faith that Tokyo will make the best of the Olympics that have taken place in recent years and will succeed. We, as a country, are ready to do any duty that falls upon us in the organizations that will be held in Japan," he said.

The reception ended with a Judo show organized by the Turkish Judo Federation, following a concert of music with Japanese folk instrument koto and piano accompaniment.
