Serhat TUNAR -TDO- A conference was held in Sofia, Bulgaria with the participation of energy experts. In a speech at the conference, Bulgaria's former Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov said Bulgaria could remain in a difficult situation if the Turkish Stream pipeline project fails to take place.

Ovcharov said that the interests of the countries in the region are conflicting. Ovcharov said that decisions concerning the entire region should not be given only in the interest of a country, and that mutual interest should be insisted on.

“The Bulgarian government must seek allied to ensure its interests in the energy field,” Ovcharov said. “South Stream was canceled because of not merely geopolitical pressure, but the unification of the project opponents and the lack of supporters of the project.”
