“BANGLADESH ARMED FORCES DAY” WAS CELEBRATED IN ANKARA

News Center -TDO- A reception was held at the Ankara Sheraton Hotel on the occasion of the "Bangladesh Armed Forces Day", hosted by Rashid Iqbal, Bangladesh's Military Attaché to Turkey.

Bangladesh's Military Attaché to Turkey Rashid Iqbal, Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever, Naval Forces Commander Adnan Özbal, Deputy Minister of National Defense Şuay Alpay, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Turkey Mosud Mannan and many guests attended the reception.

Making the opening speech, Bangladesh's Military Attaché to Turkey Iqbal stated that the Bangladesh army is among the armies with the largest number of peacekeepers in the United Nations, and that the Bangladesh army provides services under the umbrella of the UN in many areas from infrastructure construction to disaster relief.

Ambassador Mannan also said that 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence and the 100th anniversary of the birth of founding leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Muciburrahman.

Pointing out that his country has been a developing country since independence, Ambassador Mannan said: "Bangladesh is Turkey's second largest trade partner in Asia with a trade volume of 1.2 billion dollars, and Bangladesh is Turkey's 4th largest. defense industry product buyer."

In his speech, Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever said that there are historical and cultural relations between the Turkish and Bangladeshi peoples, and that these relations are based on mutual respect, trust and deep friendship.

Emphasizing the moral and material support given to the Turkish national struggle by South Asian Muslims, including Bangladeshis, Avsever made the following statements: "We are also aware of the deep respect and admiration that the people of Bengal have for our great leader, Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. His admiration for Turkey is and will always be remembered with gratitude by the Turkish people."

Emphasizing that the two countries support each other on national and international issues, Avsever said that the cooperation between the armed forces continues to develop day by day.
