WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION: WE MADE MISTAKES AT CORONAVIRUS RISK LEVEL

29/01/2020

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The World Health Organization says mistakes have been made in assessing the international risk of a Coronavirus outbreak that began in China.

World Health Organization officials told the AFP news agency on Monday that they had made mistakes in previous reports and that the international urgency of the outbreak was high.

However, it was also stressed that this correction would not mean a declaration of an international public health emergency.

The World Health Organization, which last week declared it was premature to declare an international public health emergency, had used the phrase 'low probability' for the risk of the deadly outbreak turning into a global threat.

Meanwhile, casualties in the deadly coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in Wuhan, China, which has spread across the country, have risen to 106.

Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first detected on December 12, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubey province, China.
