ASLIHAN DOĞRU -TDO- The World Health Organization (WHO) said that antibiotics used to treat the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic will increase bacterial infections.
WHO has mentioned that only a small proportion of coronavirus patients needed antibiotics to treat subsequent bacterial infections?
WHO warned that patients who survive coronavirus with mild symptoms should not use antibiotics.
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said a increasing number of bacterial infections are becoming resistant to drugs previously used to treat them.
Ghebreyesus, "The coronavirus pandemic has led to an increased use of antibiotics, which ultimately will lead to higher bacterial resistance rates that will impact the burden of disease and deaths during the pandemic and beyond.” said in a statement.
