Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The report prepared by the World Resources Institute (WRI) has published a comprehensive map showing areas of water scarcity and drought. According to the report, one-fourth of the world's population suffers from excessive thirst, and even in many countries, drunk water cannot be given to tap water said.
The data in the list created according to Turkey the most water-strapped countries in 32nd position in the world. In addition, the map made excessive or half of Turkey's territory is expressed highly withdraw water shortage.
According to the report, drought and water shortages are seen in about a quarter of the world, while the decrease in water resources due to global warming is increasing. It is also stated in the report that uncontrollable droughts in major cities such as Cape Town, Sao Paulo and Chennai may occur recently.
