İrem GÖL -TDO- The US could become the new centre of the global coronavirus pandemic, according to the World Health Organization, which said case numbers were rising quickly there even as Donald Trump talked of reopening the country of business. There have been 49,594 confirmed cases across the US so far and 622 people lost their lives due to coronavirus. While the other countries are tightening the controls and more US governors were urging people to stay at home, Trump appeared to play down the crisis on Monday night.
The president said he was considering ways to restart the economy in the coming weeks and wanted to avoid the pandemic becoming a long lasting financial problem. He signaled a sense of urgency that Congress make a deal on a stimulus package. He raised concerns about the damage that coronavirus prevention measures are doing to the US economy and he said that he was eager to return for the country to return to normal as soon as possible, and suggested that an economic crisis might result in more deaths, through suicide, than a global pandemic.
