Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The United Nations Security Council's Libya Sanctions Committee says two Dubai-based companies have sent mercenaries to the country to support Khalifa Hafter, the leader of the Armed Forces who are sides in the ongoing conflict in eastern Libya, to seize Tripoli.

Foreign mercenaries are linked to 'Lancaster 6 DMCC' and 'Opus Capital Asset Limited FZE' companies registered in free zones in the United Arab Emirates, the United States-based Bloomberg News Agency reported in a confidential report by the United Nations Security Council's Libya Sanctions Committee.

The report said the mercenaries went to Libya to support Hafter in June 2019, and two diplomats who spoke about the contents of the report and did not want to be named said the "Opus" and "Lancaster 6" companies were supporting Hafter's forces through helicopters, drones and cyberspace.
