Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez, within the scope of the agreement between the two countries announced that oil exploration activities in Libya will begin within 4 months.
Minister Dönmez, Fatih drilling ship to the Black Sea in his speech at the ceremony, so far 6 drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean has been completed and Yavuz drilling ship continues to drill in the Eastern Mediterranean, he said.
Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha and Oruç Reis seismic research ships continue their mission said Dönmez and ended their statement as follows:
"This new year's day, our legal drilling ship, which we have added to our fleet and which continues to develop at Mersin Taşucu port, will land in the Mediterranean for the first time after the completion of the studies. Our goal is to complete our work this year. After evaluating the seismic studies, we'll determine its course. Fatih is going to the Black Sea, but no one should think that we are decaying our activities in the Mediterranean. Conversely, our 2 seismic 2 drilling ships in the Eastern Mediterranean will continue to operate at full capacity. One of the most important parts missing is the completion of Fatih's trip to the Black Sea. In addition, under the agreement we reached with Libya, Turkish Petroleum Corporation applied to search for oil in our own license areas. After the suspension and announcement process, we will be able to start our first activities here in about 4 months. First, seismic studies, then analysis of the data will determine where to drill. If we hadn't taken these ships, if we hadn't signed the agreement that sets out our maritime borders with Libya, those who are opening up a front against Turkey today would have had a great deal of leverage."
