Mustafa AY – TDO – 06.11.2018 On Monday, Tunisian PM Youssef Chahed announced dismissal of 10 ministers including in Tourism, Health, Energy and Transportation Ministers while key ministries like Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior and Finance will remain still.
Since former President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali’s regime was overthrown in 2011, Tunisia has been suffering from deep economic crisis. Despite incoming loans worth billions of dollars from IMF, all government couldn’t achieve to stimulate the economy by preventing economy from continuous damage. For the reason of steady failures, 8 governments obligatorily resigned from the office.
Chahed Government -the 9th government since 2011- haven’t been able to succeed in saving the country from ongoing economic crisis yet. In the parliament, the main opposition party ‘Nidaa Tounes’ leader Hafedh Caid Essebsi called on PM Chahed to resign from the office. Essebsi’s call inevitably triggered eruption of political crisis.
