Serhat TUNAR -TDO- United States President Donald Trump assesses the operation that resulted in the deaths of General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Army, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, vice president of Hashdi Shaabi, near Baghdad airport.
Donald Trump has said in a statement about the operation in Baghdad that they are not pursuing regime change in Iran, but that the Iranian regime must immediately end its proxy wars in the region.
In remarks to reporters at the White House, Trump said the operation in Baghdad was not to start a war, but to stop a war.
Trump also made remarks about the attack on the United States Embassy in Iraq, adding that he would do everything to protect American diplomats and allies in the region.
Donald Trump continued his speech by saying: "Qassem Soleimani's era of terror is over. He should have been eliminated earlier, many lives could have been saved if this had been done," Trump said, adding, "We are prepared to take all necessary steps there if an American is targeted anywhere in the world."
