İlknur Şebnem Öztemel-TDO-16.09.2017- London has hit by another terror attack on Friday morning. It was the fifth attack that happened in England this year. Identity of attackers have not been revealed yet.
Terrorists targeted commenters in Parsons Green underground station in West London, at 8.20 a.m. (0720 GMT). National Health Service reported that 22 people were taken to hospitals with burns.
Britain’s top counter-terrorism officer Mark Rowley told Reuters “We now assess that this was a detonation of an improvised explosive device”. He added that police there were the four attacks while the authorities thwarted six others.
After the attack, British Prime Minister, Theresa May, returned to the capital in order to have an emergency meeting with Britain’s emergency response committe. She said “My thoughts are with those injured at Parsons Green and the emergency services who, once again, are responding swiftly and bravely to a suspected terrorist incident” about the unfortunate event.
Moreover, Forreign Minister, Boris Johnson, tried to mitigate people by saying people to ‘’keep calm’’ and ‘’continue their lives as normal’’.
Furthermore, US President Donald Trump, tweeted ‘’Another attack in London by a loser terrorist”. He added “These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!”.
In 2005, 52 people were killed when four British Islamists carried out suicide bomb attacks on three London underground trains and a bus. This year Britain has suffered four terrorist assaults. The fist one was happened in March, on Westminister Bridge, killed four people. The second one happened in April, on London Bridge. The third one happened in May, during famous pop singer Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, killed 22 people including children. The fourth one happened in June, in front of a mosque, killed one man.
