Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Carmen Calvo, at a press conference following the meeting of the Council of Ministers, stated that the "dialogue table" between the political parties ended, as the Autonomous Government of Catalonia insisted on the demand for independence.
While demanding independence for Catalan politicians is unacceptable to the Spanish government, he also denied a referendum on Catalonia's independence.
Calvo, however, underlined that they have not fully closed the door to dialogue with Catalan politicians.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on his Twitter account, ’Our government will not accept a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. But we want to communicate with the Catalan politicians. Our goal is to live together in peace.”
Pere Aragones, the vice-president of the government of the autonomous government of Catalonia, accused the Spanish Government of abandoning dialogue.
