Mustafa AY – TDO – 25.08.2018 On Friday, Taliban with roughly 1000 militants commenced a raid-type assault on Afghan security forces in the city of Ghazni. During the attack, Taliban militants targeted Afghan security forces’ checkpoints and the city’s infrastructural systems like communication and electricity lines.
Because of escalating attacks of Taliban, over 100 soldiers and 95 civilians lost their lives. That the terrorist organization captured many parts of city from Afghan security forces compelled Ghazni dwellers to flee to neighboring cities. On Monday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani called upon Taliban to reach a 4-day-long ceasefire (during Muslim’s sacred ‘feast of sacrifice/eid al-adha’), but didn’t get positive response from Taliban.
