News Center -TDO-Switzerland’s Ambassador to Turkey Dominique Paravicini and his spouse Fabienne Paravicini hosted an event at the Swiss Embassy in consequence of Swiss National Day.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Mayor of Ankara Mansur Yavaş, Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP) Mustafa Destici and many other guests attended to the reception.
The reception began with the signing of the national anthems of Turkey and Switzerland.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Paravicini recalled that they celebrated their national days in small groups among family and friends in the villages and said “We are very happy to continue this tradition with you tonight. Thank you very much for joining us.”
Paravicini, indicates that the bilateral relations between Turkey and Switzerland continued in the best possible way. Mr. Ambassador also announced that the Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis would visit Turkey in the near future.
Deputy Minister Kaymakçı also made a speech at the reception and reminded that the Cyprus issue was negotiated in Switzerland after a solution was not found in Brussels and Nicosia in 2004, and said "I hope one day we will find a solution to the Cyprus issue in Ankara, Nicosia or the mountains of Switzerland. We appreciate Switzerland’s efforts to bring peace and solution to complex problems."
Deputy Minister Kaymakçı also talked regarding the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Switzerland and underlined that the trade volume between these two is approximately 4.5 billion dollars. The deputy minister also said that only 300 thousand Swiss people visit Turkey every year and they wanted to see more.
Deputy Minister Kaymakçı also said that Switzerland is famous for its knives and gave a Swiss knife to Ambassador Paravicini as a present.
