St. Nicholaos was a Christian saint who lived in the ancient Lycian city of Patara (Demre district of Antalya) in the 4th century. In the northern countries of Europe, the tradition of Santa Klaus, the protector of children, has been integrated into the faith of St. Nicholaos, creating a semi-religious and very popular mythical type.
