İrem GÖL -TDO- According to news released in Al Jazeera, gunmen have attacked a hospital in the Afghan capital, Kabul, setting off a gunbattle with government forces. Afghan forces evacuated newborn babies and their mothers as medical charity Doctors without Borders runs a maternity clinic. Interior Ministry spokesman Tareq Arian said that the Afghan security forces evacuated over 80 women and babies.
Arian said: “The forces are trying to eliminate the terrorists and bring the situation under control.” He added that one of the attackers was shot during the gun battle with the Afghan security forces. The hospital is located in Dashti Barchi, which is a Shia neighbourhood that has been the target of the attacks by the ISIS in the past.
Ministry of Public Health’s spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said the Doctors supported the 100-bed government run hospital Without Borders. The capital has witnessed attacks which were claimed by ISIS.
