Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Sergey Rijkov, head of Russia's National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center, announced that Russian experts will oversee a US military facility in Germany on January 28th.
Rijkov said the purpose of the inspection was to control information about military forces and plans to deploy main weapons systems and military equipment.
During the briefing, Rıjkov noted that information will be received from the commanders regarding the main weapons and equipment systems, as well as personnel.
"Under the Vienna Document signed in 2011 on trust and security enhancement measures, the Russian inspector group plans to make a visit to assess information about a US facility in Germany," Rijkov said in a statement.
The 2011 Vienna document envisages a broad sharing of information about military forces, defence planning and military budgets and aims to further strengthen trust and security among participating countries.
European Security and Co-operation Organization (OSCE) countries are also conducting inspections by informing each other about certain military activities. The OSCE consists of a total of 57 countries in Europe, Asia and the United States.
