İrem GÖL -TDO- Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte warned the nation was facing its gravest crisis since the WW2 and took even more drastic measures to halt the epidemic. The death toll from the outbreak in Italy has taken 793 lives in one day, by far the largest daily spike absolute terms since the contagion emerged.
Italy now accounts for more than a third of world’s total of around 13,000 deaths. And it has the second-highest number of cases with 53,578 out of the global total more than 307,000. After, the WHO declared Europe to be the new new global epicentre, the outbreak keeps gathering pace in the region. Italy ordered all but the most essential businesses to close, tightening the lockdown even more. Groceries and pharmacies would remain open.
President Vladimir Putin spoke to Italian Prime Minister Conte on Saturday, to offer his support and help in the form of mobile disinfection vehicles and specialists to help the worst hit Italian regions. The Russian military will start sending medical help to Italy from Sunday to help it battle the virus.
