Mustafa AY – TDO – 18.09.2018 On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted his Turkish counterpart R.T. Erdogan in Sochi. Both leader devoted their one and half hour to execute intensive diplomatic talks for Idlib. As a result of diplomatic negotiations, Putin and Erdogan reached a consensus on establishment of a buffer zone- 15-25 km wide-. As well as buffer zone, President Putin guaranteed ‘no operation’ against FSA in Idlib if FSA fulfils the condition of laying heavy arms down. If the process goes as reached in Sochi, Russian and Turkish troops will undertake patrol missions to facilitate de-escalation of Idlib.
