Selin ATAY-TDO- Russia has decided to close its border with China and impose visa restrictions on Chinese citizens because of the new type Coronavirus outbreak.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin evaluated the measures to be taken due to the new type of coronavirus in the Cabinet meeting at the capital of Moscow. In order not to spread the virus, Prime Minister said Russia's border with China should be closed.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a written statement, warned Russian citizens not to travel to China except in case of emergency. Some Russian companies had also previously imposed restrictions on flights to China.
Canadian airlines Air Canada also joined airlines that canceled flights due to the Coronavirus outbreak that began in China.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the government was looking for ways to help Canadians in China. "We work very closely with our consular officials in China," Trudeau said. “We are concerned for Canadians in the area affected by the outbreak. It's a complicated situation but we're doing everything we can to support the Canadians."
Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne reported that 160 Canadian citizens who were stranded in the outbreak zone and requested consular service from them were working to be removed from China. He announced that they were in contact with Chinese authorities and that as soon as the decision was made, flights would be arranged to bring 160 Canadian citizens into the country.
