According to reports in Greek local media, a group calling for the closure of two asylum seeker camps in Malakasa wanted to march to camps in the area. The group, who were not allowed to approach the site by police, then tried to block the road to traffic.
Seeking to disperse the crowd, riot police intervened with pepper spray on demonstrators who attacked them with stones and sticks. 6 police were injured and 5 demonstrators were detained.
