Serhat TUNAR -TDO- After the official withdrawal of the United States' from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, one of the most important treaties of the Cold War period, the statement came from Russian side. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in the case of the United States, Russia could also develop short and medium-term nuclear missiles that can be thrown from land to air.
At a meeting Monday (yesterday) with the Security Council, Putin instructed defense and foreign ministers and the foreign intelligence service to closely monitor possible US nuclear missile development steps.
Putin said that if the United States develops such missile systems, Russia would have no choice but to develop similar missiles. Putin also called for dialogue to avoid unwanted consequences.
