Selin ATAY-TDO- US Secretary of State Pompeo called on the international community to ensure the safety of Uighurs and Cossacks who want to leave China and seek refuge.
Mike Pompeo met with his counterpart Mukhtar Tleuberdi in Kazakhstan's capital, Nur Sultan, as an official visit. The parties held a joint press conference after the meeting.
Pompeo expressed support for Kazakhstan's freedom of choice in establishing business relationships with countries, but said that partnering with U.S. companies would deliver the best results for each country.
"We invite all countries to join the call for an end to the repression in China," Pompeo said as they discussed the fate of more than 1 million Uighurs and Kazakhs in China's concentration camps. “We call for the safety of those who want to leave China and seek refuge." he added.
"The long-term presence of the United States in the region will enable investment and technology withdrawal to the economy of the Central Asian region and will enable the improvement of the quality of life of our countries. the phrase " Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Tleuberdi said.
Tleuberdi said Pompeo's visit to Kazakhstan reaffirmed efforts to maintain cooperation within the framework of the mutually broad partnership.
